Error: 'Response file has not been retrieved, response phrase is: service unavailable'

When processing PAYE Modernisation, the following error appears: RPN Response file has not been retrieved, response phrase is: service unavailable.

If you attempt to process PAYE Modernisation and encounter an error, it's because the system is using the test link instead of the live host URL in the PAYE Modernisation Parameters screen.

In the PAYE Modernisation configuration, the URL connects the system to Revenue. To resolve the issue, update this field with the correct live link.

To do this, follow the steps in the relevant section below.

Portal

  1. Click Manage Payroll then highlight the relevant pay group.

  2. Click Outputs then click ROS.

  3. Click PAYE Modernisation then click PAYE Modernisation Parameters.

  4. In the Live Host field, enter www.ros.ie then click Save.

Back Office

  1. Click CorePay then click Update.

  2. Click PAYE Modernisation then double-click PAYE Modernisation Parameters.

  3. In the Live Host field, enter www.ros.ie.

  4. To save changes, click the save icon.
