f the above error appears after uploading an employee’s new pay rates, the file contains incorrect data. This may include an invalid date format, an incorrect employee reference, or an incorrect number of columns.

To resolve this, adjust the file by following the steps below.

  1. Leading zeros removal.

    • Excel can remove leading zeros, which may cause errors in your input.

    • If dates appear incorrect, open the file in Notepad, manually add the leading zeros, save, and reload the file.

    • Incorrect Format: 1052022

    • Correct Format: 01052022

  2. Persistent errors with leading zeros.

    • If errors persist despite leading zeros being present, try breaking the file into two parts and uploading separately or test by uploading a single line first.

  3. Reference section limit

    • The reference section in the file must not exceed 10 characters.

  4. Trailing comma removal.

    • Excel may remove trailing commas, leading to input failures.

  5. Column count verification.

    • Open the file in Notepad to ensure it contains at least 10 columns (9 commas).

    • Columns 7 to 10 are optional, but at least one must contain data.

    • Even if left blank, all columns are required for the correct file format.
