Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is a government-mandated payment that offers financial support to employees unable to work due to illness. SSP is calculated based on a standard 5-day workweek, but issues may arise if the system incorrectly divides it over 7 days.
This miscalculation often results from incorrect employee work patterns or system configuration errors, leading to lower SSP payments than employees are entitled to receive.
SSP payments are configured at the organizational level to use either an employee's work pattern or qualifying days.
To review this configuration, follow these steps in portal.
Click Settings, then under UK Tax Rates, click General.
If the employee's Time/Workforce Management work pattern should take precedence over the OSSP qualifying days, select the Work Pattern indicator.
If necessary, select the Qualifying Days indicator and enable the appropriate days of the week for SSP eligibility.
