Refund PRSI for previous tax years

Employee was on the incorrect PRSI class for a number of weeks/ periods/ years. A PRSI refund needs to be made to reflect this.

Any refund of PRSI is a matter between the employee/ employer and the Department of Social Protection and should be managed outside of payroll.

πŸ“ŒNote:

  • If a timesheet is recorded for the refund the Validation report will only display the PRSI paid in the current tax year.

  • The system does not cater for PRSI refunds for previous tax years, regardless of the transaction date recorded on the timesheet. A supplementary run will not work for NI arrears.

  • Refunding PRSI via payroll is not recommended as it requires a large amount of manual amendments which may result in errors.
