Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) in Ireland and National Insurance (NI) in the UK are mandatory social security contributions that payroll systems calculate automatically based on standard weekly contribution periods.

However, employees who have irregular working patterns, career breaks, unpaid leave, or who start mid-year may need manual adjustments when the automatic calculations do not accurately reflect their actual contribution liabilities.

The manual override functionality is crucial for addressing non-standard employment arrangements, correcting historical payroll errors, and adjusting contribution records to ensure compliance with specific regulatory requirements.

To perform these adjustments, follow the steps outlined in the relevant section below.

Portal

  1. Click Employee then in the search field, search for the employee.

  2. Beside the relevant employee, click VIEW.

  3. Click Timesheet Current Period.

  4. Review the PRSI Band Override field and adjust as necessary.

  5. Click Save.

Back Office

  1. Click CorePay and then click Input.

  2. Click Advanced Input Features, and then click PRSI/NI Weeks Override.

  3. Enter the employee reference.

  4. In the NI Overrides field, enter the Employee and Employer amounts.

  5. Adjust the PRSI/NI Weeks Override field as necessary.

  6. Click Save.
