Edit a pay code

Steps to alter an existing pay code.

A pay code is a unique identifier that categorises different types of payments, deductions, or benefits within your payroll system.

Pay codes define how the system calculates, processes, and reports various compensation elements such as basic salary, overtime, bonuses, allowances, tax deductions, and pension contributions.


To edit an existing pay code, follow the steps below in Portal.

  1. Click Settings, then under Codes, click Pay Codes.

  2. Search for the pay code then click the three-dot menu.

  3. Click Edit then to make the necessary changes, navigate through the pay code wizard.

  4. Save the pay code.
