To review the pay code parameters as part of PAYE Modernisation configuration when processing the post year end cleardown, follow the steps below in Portal.
From the dashboard menu, select Payroll Dashboard.
Click the Manage Payroll tab then select an Irish pay group.
Click the Outputs tab.
Click ROS then PAYE Modernisation.
Click Pay Code Parameters.
Review the parameters attached to each pay code:
Data item | Description | When it's required |
Taxable Lump Sum | Use this for pay codes where a lump sum is being paid, and an amount of the taxable lump sum is included in Pay for Income Tax. | You need to use this parameter if such a pay code is relevant to your company. |
Non-Taxable Lump Sum | Use this for pay codes where a lump sum is being paid, and an amount of the lump sum is not included in Pay for Income Tax. | You need to use this parameter if such a pay code is relevant to your company. |
EE AVC | Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) pay code assigned to the employee. | When you enable this parameter, you include it in the Payroll Submission File. |
Share-Based Remuneration | Use this for pay codes where an employee's remuneration consists of shares in the company and is included in gross pay. | You need to use this parameter if such a pay code is relevant to your company. |
Taxable Benefit | These pay codes consist of the amount of non-cash benefits provided to the employee included in gross pay such as company car. | You need to use this parameter if such a pay code is relevant to your company. |
Medical Insurance | Associate Medical Insurance BIK with relevant pay codes. | Enable the pay codes that are part of Medical Insurance BIK. |
Pension Type | Associate the pension type with the relevant pay codes. | Enable the relevant pay codes.

Previous Year Recoupment | Use Previous Year Recoupment with a new pay code only. | The gross overpayment is deducted from the net pay where an employee is employed. This gross value is not output on the payroll submission file, and the tax liability remains between the employee and Revenue. |
