Position rates and scales determine how employees are compensated based on their roles and experience levels. However, once you establish these rates within the system, you cannot permanently delete them due to data integrity and audit trail requirements.

This limitation ensures that historical payroll records remain accurate and compliant with employment legislation. Alternatively, you can use these approaches instead:

Set scale to zero

  1. Navigate to the position rate you want to deactivate.

  2. Locate the scale value field then change the scale value to 0.

  3. Save the changes.

This approach effectively removes the rate from active use whilst maintaining the record for historical purposes.

Match previous scale value

  1. Access the position rate requiring modification.

  2. Identify the previous scale value in the sequence.

  3. Set the current scale to match the same value as the prior scale.

  4. Save the updated information.

This method creates a plateau in your pay progression, effectively stopping advancement at that point.
