Pay scales are structured salary frameworks that define compensation levels within an organization. They are typically organized by job grades, experience levels, and performance criteria.

Scale points establish specific incremental steps within each pay scale, while rates assign actual monetary values to each point. This comprehensive compensation structure ensures fair and consistent remuneration across the workforce.

Implementing pay scales helps maintain salary equity and supports career progression planning that aligns with industry standards and internal budgets. It is essential to create scale points and add rates when developing new job classifications, conducting annual pay reviews, or restructuring existing compensation frameworks.
