If the error mentioned above appears on the HMRC response file, it means that a CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) value has been entered for a company in the EPS submission, but the company corporation tax reference is not available for that organization record.

To resolve this, follow the steps below in Portal.

Check CIS Value

To check if a CIS value is being reported, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Manage Payroll then click Outputs.

  2. Select RTI then click Generate File.

  3. In the File Type list, select EPS.

  4. On the Company list, select the relevant organisation..

  5. Click EPS Parameters.

  6. In the CIS Compensation field, review the value. Make necessary changes if needed.

  7. Click Save.

Check the corporation tax reference

To check if the corporation tax reference is present, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Settings then click Organisations.

  2. From the Code drop-down menu, select the relevant code.

  3. In the Corp Tax Reference field, review the value. Make any changes if required.

  4. Click Save.
