You can update employee details in bulk using HMRC files. This can be done to update employee tax codes or student loan details. ​ To learn how to upload student loan details, watch the video or follow the steps below. ​

Download the SL1, SL2, PGL1 or PGL2 file in XML file format from the HMRC desktop tool. 

Click Uploads tab then click Load SL1/SL2 or PGL1/PGL2.

Select the notice type then select the file.

Select the Company then from the drop-down, select the student loan pay codes.

Click Submit then to view the report go to the Report Centre for changes made and any exceptions.
