If the above error message appears when trying to calculate and save a manual payment, this is because of a mismatch between the entered National Insurance (NI) thresholds and the total NIable pay.

NIable pay= LEL + PT + ST + UE

When the following warning appears on the screen :

"Warning: NI Thresholds not equal to NIable Pay. Only exception is for NI aggregation or where NIable Pay is below LEL. Are you sure you wish to continue?"

This is because the thresholds you entered (LEL + PT + ST + UE) do not add up to the total NIable pay. Specifically, theAbove UEL’ (UE) value represents the portion of NIable earnings above the Upper Earnings Limit (UEL). Including this value is essential to ensure the breakdown matches the total NIable pay.

To resolve the issue, check the employee’s tax details to view the LEL, PT, and ST limits. To do this, follow these steps in portal.

  1. Click Employee then in the search field, search for the relevant employee.

  2. Click View then click Tax Details.

  3. Highlight the year.
