The SMP calculation displays in the observation report a message stating, "SMP not enough service, joined DD-MON-YY, needed to join by DD-MON-YY," despite the employee being employed prior to these dates.

When calculating SMP, the system uses the employee's latest start date. In this example, the employee left the company and rejoined the next day, which counts as continuous employment.

The system reflects the rejoin date as the joined date. The company has the TUPE date feature enabled, which means that when this setting is turned on (Y), the system uses the latest start date as the basis for the employee's joined date.

To check the indicator, follow the steps below in Portal.

  1. Click Settings, then under UK Tax Rates, click General.

  2. Under General, enable the HR Tupe Date toggle.

  3. Click Save.

πŸ“ŒNote: You can either disable this option or enter a TUPE date for the employee to ensure the system uses the correct start date.
