Insight: Report taking a long time to run and generate

Reporting issues such as slow report generation or report timeout errors.

If you're experiencing issues with your Insight report, such as slow report generation or report timeout errors, it is due to a lack of optimization.

To optimize the report, you should add valid filters or update the existing filter to refresh the report connection.

To do this, follow the steps below in Portal.


Add valid filters

To add valid filters, follow these steps.

  1. From the dashboard menu, select Insight.

  2. Click All reports then in the Search Report field, search for the relevant report.

  3. Click the three dot icon then click View.

  4. Click Actions then click Edit Mode.

  5. From the Select a setting drop-down menu, select Filters then click ADD.

  6. In the Report Column dropdown menu, select the relevant column. e.g., payroll period equal to 201840

    ๐Ÿค“Tip: This value appears greyed out to provide an example of what to enter.

  7. From the Operator dropdown menu, select the relevant operator.

  8. Turn on the Filter Prompt toggle then click OK.

    ๐Ÿ“Œ Note: When the report runs, the system will prompt the user to enter the appropriate payroll period.


Update existing filters

To update the filter to refresh the report connection, follow these steps.

  1. Click All reports then in the Search Report field, search for the relevant report.

  2. Click the three dot icon then click Manage.

  3. From the Select a setting drop-down menu, select Filters.

  4. Highlight the relevant filter then click the three dot icon.

  5. Click Edit then remove a filter from the list.

  6. Click OK then click Refresh Data.

  7. Repeat steps 4-5 to add the filter back in.

  8. Click OK then click Refresh Data.
