Clear stuck payroll job

Steps to clear a payroll job if stuck.

Payroll jobs may become stuck due to system interruptions, processing errors, or network timeouts, preventing payroll from completing successfully. This can also affect salary approvals and other related processes.

If the job is no longer progressing, follow the steps below to clear it in Portal before rerunning payroll.

⚠️Important: If a job is stuck and it is not related to payroll validation or the generation of salaries and allowances, please chat with us in the Access Digital Assistant and reference this article title.

Check the log file

Before you clear out the failed job, we advise you to download the log file and review it for any ORA errors. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Manage Payroll then click the three-dot icon.

  2. Click Log File.

Download the file and press CTRL + F to search for ORA- errors. If there are no errors in the log file, open the Access Digital Assistant, connect with a human and reference this article title; attaching the log file.


Clear failed job

After checking the log file for ORA errors, clear the failed job. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Manage Payroll then beside the relevant company, click the three-dot icon.

  2. Click Reset Failed Job.

📌Note: This menu appears only when the job shows as failed, not while it is still running.


Enable menu option

If the Reset Failed Job option is not visible, enable the menu option for the user who requires access. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. From the dashboard menu, select Security.

  2. Click Menu Profiles.

  3. In the search field, search for the menu profile you want to add the permission to.

  4. Click the three-dot icon then click Manage Menu Options.

  5. In the Search field, search for the following menu option:

    • Update paygroup reset: WS_PAYROLL_MENU.PATCH_PAYGROUP_RESET

  6. Set the menu option to Active.

This adds the permission to all users who have the relevant menu profile.
